Study Shows Transgender Surgeries and Pharmaceuticals Do Not Improve Outcomes for Children

New research highlighted in the Wall Street Journal points to an important reality. Medical interventions for children experiencing gender confusion are not delivering the results many were promised. A large study out of Finland found that children who received interventions such as hormones did not experience better mental health outcomes than those who did not. That finding should matter to every parent.

The Evidence Is Not Supporting These Interventions

For years, families have been told that medical interventions are necessary to help children. This study tells a different story. Children who went down the path of medical intervention did not show meaningful improvement compared to those who received other forms of care. Many of the underlying struggles remained. That raises a serious question. If these interventions do not improve outcomes, why are children being pushed toward them?

Other Countries Are Pulling Back

Finland and several other European countries are already changing course. They are moving away from early medical interventions and toward approaches that focus on counseling and support. Their medical authorities have concluded that caution is necessary, especially when dealing with children. The United States has not followed that path. Instead, children are still being directed toward medical interventions that carry permanent consequences.

Parents Are Rejecting This Approach

Parents are not willing to accept this. They do not want their children placed on a path that leads to irreversible changes without clear evidence of benefit. They want honesty. They want caution. And they want their children protected. Families understand that children need time, guidance, and support. They do not need to be rushed into decisions that will shape the rest of their lives.

Missouri Must Protect Its Children

Missouri has the opportunity to take a clear stand. Amendment 3 establishes permanent protections for minors by prohibiting puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and gender transition procedures. It ensures that children are not placed on a path toward permanent medical harm. It also reinforces the role of parents and strengthens a culture that values life, truth, and family.

Standing for Truth and Protection

The evidence is becoming clearer. Medical interventions are not solving the problems they were meant to address. Children are being put at risk, and families are being asked to trust a system that is not delivering results. Missouri families deserve better. Her Health Her Future is committed to protecting children, supporting parents, and ensuring that policies reflect truth, not ideology. Now is the time to act and secure a future where children are protected and families are respected.
